Labor Day has passed, school has started, and the most beautiful tree on my running route is starting to turn colors. I know it’s not official for another 17 days, but I think it’s safe to say fall has arrived!
I LOVE FALL. When asked if I’d rather live in a place with distinct seasons or consistently warm and sunny weather, I usually choose seasons. But if the question were seasons or eternally autumn, I’d choose eternally autumn every single time. I love the beautiful colors, I love the cool weather, I love scarves and jeans and sweaters and boots, I love lattes, I love college football, I love running on crunchy leaves, and I love eating soup or stew or chili for every single meal.
So I’m looking forward to fall simply because it is my very favorite season, but I also have a few special things I’m really looking forward to before winter arrives.
Beginner Yoga Series at Red Door Yoga
This fall I’m taking a beginner yoga class at a beautiful new studio in my hometown. I’ve been to a variety of different yoga classes, but I’m never sure if I’m doing it right. I understand that the point of yoga isn’t to do each move perfectly, but I know for me I’d get more out of my practice if I were confident I had the basics down. In this class I’m going to learn about proper posture and breathing, and I can’t wait! I’m hoping this will make weekly yoga a habit, something I’ve been trying to cultivate with varying success for a few years.
Joining a Book Club
I love books and reading, and although I enjoy reading alone in my corner, I’ve always wanted to be in a real book club. This fall will kick off a book club for young women where I work, and I’m so excited to have a group of people to discuss books with. It will also be a great way to be introduced to new titles I wouldn’t typically seek out on my own, and to make new friends. It’s a little hard to control my excitement over this! I’ll be sure to share about new books this fall.
Time with Friends
Along with making new friends in book club, I’ve got dates on the calendar for time with old friends. Specifically, I’m very excited for a Marvel Movie Marathon night in a couple weeks, and a wine night in at the end of the month. I’m also in a friend’s wedding this fall, and I can’t wait to celebrate with her and her husband-to-be! I’m so blessed to have such wonderful friends.
Hiking on the North Shore
Nick and I haven’t decided if we’re headed up for a day or for a long weekend, but hiking along the north shore of Minnesota in the fall is one of our favorite activities. Our wedding anniversary is in late October, and what better way to celebrate than a long, colorful hike in one of our favorite spots!
New Fall Recipes
I love to cook, and soups and chilis are my favorites to warm up with on a cool night. I hope to try several new recipes from our cookbook collection. I’ve also started a fall menu pinterest board of all the fall recipes I want to make. I’ll likely be eating soup for multiple meals a day, several days a week. Yum!
Fall is short, but there’s more than enough time to make the most of it! I hope you enjoy this season as much as I do.
Questions: What are you looking forward to this season? What’s your favorite season? Would you like to live someplace where it’s eternally autumn?
