How are the first few days of November going for you? Is there snow on the ground where you live? It’s a chilly Friday where I’m at, but nothing can stop my enjoyment of the start to the weekend! As always, I want to share my favorite things from the week.
How your body keeps time - This article is all about sleep! More precisely, our circadian rhythms, and why they’re important. We love sleep at our house, but we don’t have the best sleeping habits. This article convinced me I really need to set a consistent bedtime and waking time, something I’m terrible at. I was happy they mentioned that the time of day you work matters to your sleep health, but I wish the article addressed how people who work at odd hours can stay healthy and keep good sleep hygiene. Maybe that’s a topic I need to start digging into.
Bev Weidner writes the hilarious Bev Cooks blog, and also makes short “Mom Wins” videos for the food network. She got a lot of criticism for her frozen peanut butter slices hack recently - so much so that several articles have talked about the hack and the reaction (google it for a good chuckle). I hadn’t heard of the “scandal” (for lack of a better term) until Bev posted a photo in her brilliant halloween costume - A FROZEN PEANUT BUTTER SLICE.
I love when we can laugh at ourselves, and I thought this was a clever way to get the last laugh. I don’t personally have a use for frozen peanut butter slices, but if that’s what works for you, go for it!
Things everyone else is obsessed with, too:
A coworker recently introduced me to the podcast How I Built This with Guy Raz. I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of this before, but I’m so happy I found it now. Every episode has me on the edge of my seat as people who are so creative and hardworking tell the stories of how they took an idea and turned it into something huge. My favorite episode is about Rent the Runway, but the episode about Zumba is a close second!
I joined many other Netflix users in binge watching Stranger Things 2 last weekend, and I have no regrets about the hours spent in front of the TV. I think I liked season 2 even better than season 1. I love this show! Even if you don’t like scary movies, or aren’t interested in the 80s, or don’t enjoy “kids shows” (this isn’t), I think you’ll love Stranger Things. Now I’m anxiously waiting for season 3!
That’s all for today. Do you have plans for the weekend? My college roommate is getting married this weekend, and I’m so excited for time with friends and lots of dancing. I hope whatever you do brings you a happiness boost to propel you farther into November!
