Friday Favorites

It’s Friday! Do you get to wear jeans to work on Fridays? I love casual Fridays. They’re a nice transition to the type of weekend where the only acceptable attire is yoga pants and pajamas. This Friday I’m looking forward to checking off the loose threads from my to do list and having lunch with friends. Before I head off to get to work before the weekend, I wanted to share some favorites.

Health and Wellbeing:

How Living in Sweden Changed the Way I Think About Health - As someone who loves food and travel and works hard to cultivate healthy habits, I’m always interested in how different cultures relate to food, diet and exercise.

As someone who is trying hard to live sugar free, I found the information about sugar to be interesting, even if it wasn’t new news. I always enjoyed the recommendations for fitting in more walking. A lunchtime walk is especially great this time of year in Minnesota, when there’s little time to be outside in the daylight.

How much does it cost to travel to every country in the world? - I love to travel, even if hitting every country in the world isn’t a top goal for me. I loved The Happiness of Pursuit, where Chris talks a lot about his experiences visiting every country, so it was interesting to get another perspective into the financial aspect of his traveling quest. My biggest takeaway from this blog post is that you can spend as little or as much money as you want while traveling, you just have to be prepared and do your research.

Extremely Relatable Children’s Book:

Pablo the Penguin who Hated the Cold - I know it’s technically still fall, but it is COLD where I live. And windy. Which adds to the cold. I’ve lived in Minnesota, where cold is part of the deal, my whole life. I love it here and Minnesota will always be home, but when temps drop I often think of Pablo.

Pablo is a penguin who, unlike the rest of his community on the South Pole, hates the cold. Despite being born and raised someplace chilly, he dreams on lying on a beach. He eventually sets off for someplace warm in his bathtub, of all things. This book has a happy ending, with Pablo enjoying a heat wave by the ocean. I relate to this cartoon penguin on a very deep level.

What are you doing this weekend? We’re preparing for Thanksgiving next week. I can’t wait!

The holidays are here, and I'm freaking out a little bit
